"Capriccio" was commissioned by the clarinets of the Tokai University Takanawadai High School Band in November 2002.
The etymology of "Capriccio" includes meanings such as "capriccio" and "fantastic ideas", and the musical term also means "a cheerful instrumental piece that is not so bound by form". Takao Hatakeda, band director, requested the work to be suitable for contest as well as section practice.
I hope other groups value this as a contest piece as well as a practice song to learn fundamentals.
