Inspired by Moreau's art, this work paints symbolic scenes with rich sound.
2 Euphoniums
2 Tubas

This is third in a series of Bari-Tuba ensembles commissioned by Tubium, directed by Akira Toda, following Rhapsody and Esmeralda (Brain Music / Bravo Music). Salome at the Prison is by Gustave Moreau (1826-1898), a French symbolist painter who created fantastic images from religion and mythology. Since the theme is painting, the style is different from the previous two works. If you study my band work The Mystical Flower, also inspired by Morrow's paintings, I think that the range of interpretation of this piece will expand. We hope that many of you will become familiar with it in the future.
