This is fourth in the commission project series of Vive! Saxophone Quartet, including "Novelette", "The Dance in the Heat Haze" and "Aski-Kataski-Haix-Tetrax-Damnameneus-Aision" (Brain Music/Bravo Music) since 2005. "Bagatelle" means a little, or light thing. Each movement is titled from Vive! member's names. As Ravel composed a minuet by stringing the spelling of Haydn's name, I utilized names of the quartet. I have been close with them since college days so I write with a little humor. Enjoy the music unique to their name!
In addition, since this work is a specialized sound sequence (I will omit the details here) but for example, in the case of soprano saxophone member "Akio Toyoda", the sound sequence is "A, D, H, A-F, A, D, A, D, A". The soprano he plays will use this sequence from the beginning of the first movement.
