Vibrant woodwind octet inspired by birds, weaving bright and free melodies.
Program Notes:
When we watch images of living creatures moving together in large groups, the sight can appear either beautiful or grotesque depending on its scale. As these creatures live their lives with a natural sense of order, their collective forms often reveal a somehow unique kind of design.
The inspiration for this work comes from birds. Different species possess their own distinctive calls and colors, flying and interacting freely. Drawing on this image, the musical motifs and melodies of the various instruments intertwine vividly and freely. The piece seeks to portray a bright and positive world created through the lively overlap of many forms of life.
While the harmonic structure is guided to a certain extent, the beginnings and endings of phrases are designed with freedom. As a result, it may sometimes be difficult to determine whether musical ideas between instruments are directly related. This is intentional, aiming to create a three-dimensional soundscape and a multifaceted musical impression. Please perform with an emphasis on a broad, vibrant sense of "song" and the contrasts of resonance.
